Transport Division maintains their commercial Fleet for the various tours being organized by Tourism Division of the Corporation. As per their requirement transport division provides vehicles to the Tourism Division for Local Sight Seeing as well as Outstation tours. The transport division also maintains the staff vehicles being used by the officers of the Corporation. The Control Room of the Transport Division opens round the clock.
Transport Division also undertakes the transport arrangements for the various prestigious National and International Conferences and Events. For Example the Transport arrangements was handled by this division for the following National/International events for which the Corporation received appreciation and commendations for smooth operation and proper handling of transport arrangement from the various Organizing Committees: -
1. Asian Games 1982.
2. CHOGAM
3. Non-Aligned Meet (NAM).
4. Children Film Festival.
5. International Film Festival.
6. Bharatiyam.
7. Indian Road Congress.
8. Sales Tax Commissioner's Conference.
9. Eighth Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change (COP-8).
10. Asian Network of Major Cities.
11. 34th International Film Festival 2003.
12. G.20 Conference organized by Ministry of Commerce in 2005.
In addition to above the Transport Division also provides vehicles to various Government Departments Of Delhi Govt. as well as Government Of India.
Delhi is fast moving towards a user
friendly transport system that is both modern and
convenient for the commuter. Around 20,000 vehicles in
Delhi have been converted to CNG mode of fuel and help
clean the air over Delhi. Old commercial transport
vehicles are being phased out to reduce vehicular
pollution.
Electric trolley buses are being considered as
yet another mode of transport.
Delhi Metro Rail is fast taking
shape. The first phase of construction work is already
under way. Integrating the Metro with Delhi Transport
Corporation that runs buses in the capital is also under
way through a smart card so that automatic ticketing
system including software, hardware and revenue sharing
can be implemented.
In the last few years a number of
flyovers have come at strategic locations. These have not
only eased traffic but also reduced commuting time.
Delhi will soon become a city of flyovers which will
reduce traffic congestion substantially.
Dial-a-cab is now a reality in the
city. The
radio taxi scheme provides round the clock
air-conditioned taxi services.
Car Rental Agencies
Charges for car
hire/chauffer-driven cars from international and
domestic airports to any point in the city within 40 km
is from US$ 21 to US$ 53 or Rs. 400-500, depending on
the model of the car.
