Art Galleries
Contemporary Indian art is on display at the Modern Art Gallery. In addition Lalit Kala Academy, Ravindra Bhawan, Triveni Gallery and AIFACS Gallery regularly display the works of arts.

  Crafts Museum

The museum houses a variety of crafts from different parts of India. Craftsmen hold regular demonstrations and there is a small handicraft shop as well.

  Modern Art Gallery
A collection of contemporary Indian art alongwith an art reference library.

A comprehensive collection of antique crafts, stone carvings and artifacts. Some of them dating back to the period of Harappa & Mohanjodaro. The museum shows what ancient India was all about.

 National Museum of Natural History

Open: 10.00 A.M. To 5.00 P.M., Closed: Monday
Here the focus is on ecology. Various galleries take visitors through the gamut of earth's natural resources. The museum also has activity rooms for children to play and learn.

 Rail Transport Museum

Located in the southern part of Delhi close to the diplomatic area the museum exhibits, 140 year old history of Indian Railways. Main Attractions: are the Fairie Queen of 1885 the oldest working steam locomotive, the luxury saloon of the Prince of Wales and the saloon of the Maharaja of Mysore.

 

Red Fort Museum of Archaeology
Red Fort, Delhi (Tel 23267961)
Open: 10.00 A.M. To 5.00 P.M.
Closed: Friday
Display a collection of curios and artifacts from the Mughal period, including a manuscript copy of the holy Koran in Nasq characters.

 Red Fort museum of Arms & Weapons
Illustrates the chronological development of arms and armour from the Mughal period till the First World War.

 Tibet House Museum
I Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi (Tel. 24611515)
Open: 9.30 A.M. To 5.30 P.M., Closed: Sat. & Sun
The museum depicts the richness of Tibetan culture and art. It has a collection of thankas, old currency notes, headpieces, prayer objects and musical instruments. The building also houses a library and an emporium.

Nehru Memorial Museum and Planetarium

The Teen Murti house was the residence of India's first Prime minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. It showcases various items that he used and the gifts he received. The house was converted into a memorial after his death. The Nehru Planetarium here gives a complete overview of the Indian Space program. Films are screened daily. The Capsule in which Rakesh Sharma went into space is also displayed here.

Air Force Museum

Closed: Monday & Tuesday.

 Attractions:: A Collection of Aero planes & armoury.

  Depicts the history of the Indian Air force & has a vast collection of aeroplanes and Armory on displaying.

Institution for enhancing creativity among children. It holds regular classes and workshops on performing & creative arts.

NATIONAL POLICE MUSEUM

Attractions: The world of thrilled and sensation

This museum takes us into the world of thrill and sensation as museum contains several thought provoking items all related to police Crime & Criminals, from the ancient to the modern times. Exhibition acquired from different states and central police organizations both of Indian and Foreign Origin. Photography is allowed with permission. Museum has no admission fees.

NEHRU MUSEUM & PLANETORIUM

localtion: Teen Murti Bhavan, Teen Murti Marg, New Delhi
Spl. School Programmes: 9:30 am to 10:30 pm.
Additional shows on Sundays and holidays in Hindi- 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Hindi Shows- 10 am to 5 pm.

Attractions: Newspaper Clippings And Photographs From The Independence Movement.

The residence of Late Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India was converted into a museum after his death. The museum is a fascinating place to learn about the history of the Independence Movement.

There are several photographs of the erstwhile Prime Minister, giving an account of his life. Besides this, the colonial building is also equally interesting, with its teak paneled rooms with high ceilings, spacious verandas and well kept gardens.
