Raj Ghat
On the banks of the river Yamuna is the Raj Ghat where
the father of the nation Mahatama Gandhi was cremated in 1948, soon after
India attained it freedom.
This is a simple square platform of black marble northeast
of Feroz Shah Kotla, on the banks of the Yamuna River. It marks the spot
where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948.
Just north of Raj Ghat, is the Shanti Van, where Jawaharlal Nehru the
first Indian Prime minister, was cremated in1964. His daughter, Indira
Gandhi, who was killed in 1984 and two grandsons Sanjay (1980) and Rajiv
(1991) were also cremated in the same vicinity.

Attractions: Personal Belongings Of Gandhiji.
Situated opposite to Raj Ghat is the Gandhi Museum. Dedicated to the
Father of the Nation, the museum contains some of his personal belongings.
There are five pavilions one can go through that comprise of sculpture,
photographs and paintings of Gandhiji and the history of the Satyagraha
movement as well as the philosophy of 'ahinsa' (non-violence).

Gandhi Smriti
Located at Rajghat (Delhi), Gandhi Smriti and Darshan
Samiti was formed in September 1984 by the merger of Gandhi Darshan at
Rajghat and Gandhi Smriti.
The main attraction: Gandhi Smriti is one of the biggest
museums of Gandhi and has a library where around 60,000 books are kept
and has bookshops selling books of Gandhi. There are around 6000 original
photos of Gandhi preserved here.
The house treasures many memories of the last 144 days of Gandhi's life.
The exhibition on the Mahatma, the room he lived in and the prayer ground
where he fell a martyr with God's name on his lips attract a large number
of visitors daily

Gandhi Darshan Smriti
Gandhi Darshan is situated close to the Gandhi Samadhi at Rajghat
on 36 acres of land. It offers a comprehensive exhibition on Gandhi spread
out in four pavilions, a film auditorium, conference facilities for national
and international camps, a children's corner and a library.
How to get there: Delhi being the capital of India is
well connected by air and rail with the rest of the country.
Best time to visit: October to March.
